The Students’ Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) is excited to welcome Gwen Bauer as the new General Manager. MacEwan University is where Gwen started her post-secondary education by taking part-time courses at the south-side campus. She remembers well the welcoming, supportive environment offered as she worked her way toward a degree. Gwen is excited to be back in a different capacity where she will lead the SAMU operations and support the Student Executive in the achievement of their goals effective August 1, 2017.
As a senior administrator, Gwen brings broad experience gained from the social purpose, private and public sectors. She provided administrative leadership to one of the largest faculties at the University of Alberta, supported the Vice President of finance and administration in the oversight of the portfolio (included HR, Finance, Budget, Administrative Systems, and Risk Management Services), and developed and oversaw all institutional policy development. Gwen has also been a consultant for various organizations where she offered her expertise for strategic planning, performance development programs, team building, conflict resolution, change management, and policy development.
Gwen has a BA in Psychology and has recently obtained her designation as a Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP™). She has developed, co-developed and instructed courses within the change management series for the Faculty of Extension at the University of Alberta. She is recognized for her sense of humour and commitment to creating an environment that engages individuals and groups. Building meaningful relationships, pushing thinking beyond the current reality, learning, and sharing knowledge are her passions and she takes every opportunity to bring these passions to achieve business objectives.
