Hotel Riu Latino
We are so excited to bring SAMU and NAITSA students to the Hotel Riu Latino in Cancún, Mexico!
Start your day on the resort’s beautiful stretch of beach and try out kayaking, catamaran rides and snorkelling alongside colourful coral reefs. Kick back and relax by one of the pools with a drink in hand from the swim-up bars before zooming down waterslides at the Splash Water World water park or hit the Renova Spa.
You can look forward to a variety of delectable cuisines offered, from international dishes at the Moctezuma buffet to Asian specialties at Geisha, Italian favourites from Milan and Pepe’s Grill for quick bites to keep you going in between meals. When the sun goes down, sip on a nightcap at one of the stylish bars, dance the night away at Pacha nightclub, or check out the Foam Party, Beach Party or silent disco.

Trip Details
The above prices include resort accommodations, an all-inclusive meal and drink package, access to all resort amenities (see below), 1 carry-on, 1 personal item, 1 checked bag and round-trip transfers to and from the resort. See the additional fees section below for destination-specific costs that travellers must purchase in addition to the resort package.

Important Dates & Deadlines
- Registration deadline: Monday, FEBRUARY 12, 2024 – travellers must ensure they have registered for Last Class Bash prior to Mon, Feb 12, 2024 to confirm their spot.
- Traveller rooming lists must be submitted to SAMU by Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
- Trip cost MUST be paid in full by Friday, February 23, 2024. Travellers who fail to make payment by this deadline will lose their deposit and be unable to attend Last Class Bash.
- Modifications to bookings (including name or rooming changes) may be possible after Wednesday, February 14, 2024 through additional fees:
- March 3 – April 10: $150 per name change
- April 11 – April 23: $250 per name change
- The travel group will fly from Edmonton, Alberta to Cancún, Mexico on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Cancellation Policy
If you are required to cancel your booking after completing your full registration (deadline: Monday, February 12, 2024), it is possible to do so for a fee:
- February 12 – March 15: 100% of ticket price is refundable
- March 16 – April 10: 50% of total ticket price is non-refundable
- April 11 – onward: 100% of total ticket price is non-refundable
- The $250 deposit (payable upon registration) is nonrefundable.
Additional Fees
There are destination-specific fees that travellers must pay in addition to the ticket prices above. Read below for more information about each fee:
- VISITAX ($18.80 USD per person): VISITAX is an additional tourist tax that each traveller must pay before departure from Cancún, to be shown at the airport. Passengers must pay* and download the voucher with the QR code (enter the date you are departing from Cancún: May 8, 2024): https://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
- * Travellers can pay either prior to arrival or during their stay in Cancún, as payment is verified upon departure.
- More details about VISITAX will be provided to travellers via email and through information sessions prior to the departure date. It is the responsibility of travellers to be familiar with this tax and ensure it is paid as required. THIS FEE IS NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR RESORT PACKAGE.
- Environmental Sanitation Fee ($31.12 MXN Pesos, approximately $2.47 CAD): The municipal government of Cancún has imposed an environmental sanitation fee which will be collected by hotels in Cancún and the Riviera Maya. As of February 1, 2023, guests will pay a fee $31.12 mxn pesos (approx. $2.47 CAD) per room, per night. This mandatory fee will be collected locally and is subject to change without prior notice.
- Travellers will be required to bring a credit/debit card or cash to pay this fee upon arrival to the resort.
- Travel Insurance: travellers are required to provide proof of travel insurance to attend Last Class Bash. This coverage can be through Manulife, AMA Insurance, paternal coverage, insurance provided through SAMU fees or other insurance coverage.
- Student Group Policy ($100 USD): The hotel will require a guaranteed deposit of $100 USD per traveller on arrival at the hotel, for any damage, expenses, losses, fines that the customer might incur. If there is no damage, this deposit will be returned to travellers before departure.
Required Travel Documentation
- Passport: a valid passport is required to attend Last Class Bash. Your passport must be valid for the duration of the trip (May 1 – 8, 2024).
- COVID 19 Requirements: travellers must meet the requirements listed at the following link to be permitted entry to Mexico.
