Student Advocacy Office

The SAMU Student Advocacy Office provides MacEwan students with support and guidance during instances of conflict with their faculty and the University. Although students are responsible for knowing the policies and procedures of MacEwan University as they relate to academic appeals and student discipline cases, SAMU is here to provide support and guidance throughout the process.

We help with:

  • Academic appeals
  • Student discipline cases
  • Appeals such as plagiarism, cheating, and improper collaboration

Dealing with the University, especially in times of conflict, can be intimidating for students. We are here to advocate for the University’s processes to be fair and reasonable for students.

If you need any help with the above matters, feel free to arrange an appointment with Evan MacDonald, Advocacy Coordinator (, 780.497.5648) or VP Academic (, 780.497.5476).

Students can also book a virtual online meeting with the SAMU VP Academic here.
