Candidates: VP Academic

NICKKI KAMPRATH (Any/All)

Program: Bachelor of Science, Psychology Honours

Hi, my name is Nickki. I am a first-generation university student who went from the university preparation program to completing the Honours program. My experience in education includes conducting and presenting research about teaching and learning in higher education, working directly with students as a teaching assistant, and connecting students with professors through the Student Psychology Network as president.

I’m running for VP Academic because I have a deep love for teaching and learning in a university setting, and I aim to support students for the rest of my life as a professor. As VPA, I will advocate for educational equity and removing barriers, so students can focus on their education. Every student’s needs are unique, and we need a system that not only acknowledges individual needs but is equipped to help students navigate the system.

Chioma Uzor

Hello everyone!

My name is Chioma Uzor, a fifth-year Psychology major with a Political Science minor. I currently serve as a student councillor, Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS) Committee member, and Vice President of Internal Affairs for Towers Collective. I’m running for Vice President Academic in the 2025 elections!

At MacEwan, I’ve worked to drive meaningful change and enhance the academic experience through my leadership endeavours. I’ve seen firsthand the challenges students face, including affordability, transparency, and accessibility. Rising costs of learning materials and unclear guidelines on academic integrity—especially regarding AI as a learning tool—are pressing concerns that need attention.

Every student’s unique challenges deserve recognition. As Vice President Academic, I will advocate for student-first initiatives and ensure the student voice remains central in all academic matters.

Candidates: VP External

Richard Walker (He/him)

Year of study: 4th year
Program: Bachelors of Science

Hi, I’m Rick. I’m in my last semester of Ecology and Diverse streams and Psychology. You can usually find me at SAMU or at MacEwan Sport and Wellness. As a leader, we should strive for excellence and lead by example. I am a reliable, confident, and approachable person because I empathize with students.

I’ve spent more than a decade in academia which gives me insight on the financial needs of students at multiple institutions. Being a multilingual, 2SLGTQ+, Muslim, communication is important for advocating for our students. Being an interdisciplinary student, I advocate for student needs as I understand multiple career paths.

I know I will thrive in a leadership environment because of my skills and knowledge. With over 10 years of work experience, I understand the financial needs of our students. I look forward to representing students interests during my term as vice president external.

Wilfrid Youbi Fansi

My name is Wilfrid Youbi Fansi, and I am running for the position of VP External.

As a fifth-year student in the Bachelor of Commerce program, I’m painfully familiar with the strife that students face. I have engaged in active leadership roles such as Treasurer for the Marketing Club or Admin Assistant for Student Groups. As such, I am interested in all students’ well-being and have always, within my capacity as a pupil, aimed to understand the issues that affect my fellow students.

Within this role, I would enact my desire to ensure an amicable relationship with external stakeholders to put students first. Affordability, Opportunity and Reliability are my pillars for this role. I strive to amplify the students’ voices and ensure that all decisions that impact students consider them, too. I enjoy reading manga and (very) amateur photography when I’m not chasing deadlines on assignments.

Candidates: VP GOVERNANCE AND FINANCE

Jay Forcier

My name is Jay Forcier; I am a registered Social worker in the applied human services administration program. In the past, I was president of the TTRPG student group and worked on some pretty cool projects, including BE-GAY ROLL DICE and the Fantasy Fall Festival.

I like to take a hands-on approach and help direct people in all aspects of a project, including tabling, advertising, budgeting, and event facilitation. I have definitely seen an increase in the need for student involvement and volunteerism on campus. Interestingly enough, one of my favorite social work classes was community studies, taught by Fiona Edwards-Akunesiobike. There, I learned of the importance of community involvement.

I pride myself on being an active volunteer and helping students make lifelong friends on campus. These are some important years, and I want other people to enjoy their university experience as much as I got to!

Andrei Santiago (he/him)

Year of Study: 1st Year

Program: Bachelor of Commerce

Hello! My name is Andrei Santiago, and I am a first-year Bachelor of Commerce student. I am actively engaged in both on campus and residence events, as well as various volunteering opportunities, all while balancing a full course load.

Beyond schoolwork, I currently serve as a Finance executive for both the Filipino Barkada Club and the Commerce Club- which, as you can probably tell, had a major influence in my decision to run for this position!

As students, we continue to face rising tuition and living costs, which remain major barriers to our post-secondary education. If elected as Vice President Governance and Finance, I will work hard to continuously advocate for students’ financial needs and concerns, with an emphasis on reducing costs and the waiving of fees. I hope to earn your vote so I can represent the student voice in advocating for and serving the student body of Macewan!

ALEM TESFAY (he/him)

Year of study: “4th” Year

Program: Bachelor of Commerce- Management Major/ Marketing Minor/ Political Science Minor

Hello friends, I’m Alem Tesfay, and I’m excited to run for Vice President of Student Life. Throughout my time at MacEwan, I’ve been actively involved in student life as a MacEwan Ambassador, Co-founder of the Chess Club, PAWSS Volunteer, and Student Councillor, where my peers voted me as Councillor of the Year.

You may have seen me tutoring students at the Makerspace, advocating for students, or attending campus events. In addition to my many years on Students Councils’ my governance experience has been enhanced by my experience as a board member of the MacEwan Staff Union.

I believe student involvement through clubs, volunteering, or committees helps enrich the student experience. If elected VP of Student Life, I will support and advocate for Student Inclusivity, Engagement, Affordability and Mental Health.
