Wellbeing Tip: Mindful Eating

Jan 29, 2024 | SAMU Blog

Mindful eating is when we understand and are aware of the foods we eat. Awareness of our eating can help us grow a positive relationship with our food. Therefore, bringing in mindfulness with our relationship to food can take a caring and kinder perspective to eating.

Here are 6 ways to practice mindful eating:

  1. Stopping when full
  2. Eating when our bodies tell us
  3. Eating with others with set times and places
  4. Eating foods that are delicious and nutritious
  5. Removing distractions, focus on the here and now of eating
  6. Consider the origins of your food, where it comes from

Tips for mindful eating:

  • Engage the senses
  • Remove Restrictions
  • Listen to your body
  • Understanding what your body needs
