voter information

Info for Voters provides students with information related to SAMU elections. It includes Meet the Candidates and other candidate events, outlines the importance of voting, and explains where and when students are able to cast their ballots on campus or online.

be a leader, be informed and be heard

The election process is divided into three phases that help guide student participation in SAMU governance. BE A LEADER focuses on students who want to run in elections and take an active role in representing their peers. BE INFORMED encourages students to learn about candidates and their platforms through events like Meet the Candidates, ensuring they can make thoughtful decisions. BE HEARD is the final step, where students vote in SAMU elections and referendums, ensuring their voices directly influence leadership, priorities, and decisions that shape the student experience.

where do i vote?

How to vote: Open your MyMacEwan email on voting day, search for the 2026 Executive Committee By-Election email, click the voting link, and follow the steps in the voting portal. It takes less than 30 seconds to complete and submit your ballot successfully online.

why should i vote?

Voting is your chance to be heard on important issues, including SAMU’s direction, how your fees are spent, governance and leadership, and student experience at MacEwan. Your vote shapes key decisions. Note: The video explains how to vote; process applies to all elections.

be informed: meet the candidates

Meet the Candidates gives students the chance to connect with Executive Committee candidates, learn about their platforms, and ask questions. Held March 3–4 in the SAMU Student Lounge, this event helps students make informed decisions before voting on March 10–11.

Election/REFERENDUM events

Election and referendum events give students opportunities to engage with SAMU governance through sessions like EC for a Day, Students’ Council drop-in meetings, and Food for Thought events. These events help students learn, ask questions, and stay informed before voting.
