The General Faculties Council (GFC) is the highest academic authority at MacEwan, dealing with topics such as academic standards, programming, integrity, and policies, as well as scholarship, research and creative activities at MacEwan University.
As the GFC Student Representative, you sit on both the GFC and the Council on Student Affairs (CoSA). CoSA provides a forum to address issues related to student affairs, the quality of the student experience and the determinants of student success at MacEwan University. This committee focuses on issues that affect students equally across the university and facilities high-level discussion, consultation and advice.

WHAT DO MACEWAN COMMITTEE STUDENT MEMBERS DO?
- Attend all committee meetings
- Prepare for committee meetings by reviewing agenda materials in advance*
- Prepare relevant insights and other notes prior to meeting attendance
- Provide an additional student perspective on each committee

HONOURARIUM – GET PAID!
The GFC Student Representative is provided an honourarium of $60 per GFC meeting which they attend, $30 per GFC preparation meeting which they attend, and $15 per CoSA meeting which they attend. The GFC representative can expect to receive their honourarium at the end of their term, as per SAMU procedures.
