SAMU is pleased to provide you with a list of special discounts available to students.

More than ever students are concerned about their financial circumstances, so every loonie counts. 

We’ll update the list as we discover more discounts and if you are aware of any additional discounts not on this list, send us an email and let us know about it.

Please note that any of these offers could expire without notice. If you run into an expired deal, please let us know.

CARDS AND ACCOUNTS
  • International Student Identity Card (ISIC) – A card available to purchase that gives international students access to a wide variety of discounts.
  • RBC – Offers a free student account and $100 for signing up. Bonus: there is an RBC Student Centre and ATM in the SAMU building.
  • SPC card – Saves students money on clothes, food, travel, entertainment and more. The card costs $11.99 per year, and provides an app that makes it easy to use.
  • Student Beans – Students can sign up for a free account with a MyMacEwan email address. Student Beans provides discounts on a variety of retail categories, including clothing and technology. An app is also available.
  • Unidays card – Offers a free card and gives you access to great discounts for online and in-store purchases.
FOOD
  • Bulk barn – 15% off every Wednesday with a valid student ID.
  • Canadian Brewhouse – (Located on 104th Avenue across from the Robbins Health Learning Centre). Gives 15% off your receipt with a valid MacEwan student ID.
  • Denny’s – (Located on 104th Avenue across from Sport and Wellness) gives 10% off your receipt with a valid student ID.
  • Dominos – 30% off all bread and pizza items with code UNI
  • Harveys – at 10358 109 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 4X9 offers a Student Discount if you show your Student ID.
Fitness
  • Cyclebar St. Albert & Windermere – 25% off 4/8/ unlimited ride, month to month memberships, with discount code MACEWAN. Bring your student ID on your first visit.
  • City of Edmonton’s Corporate Wellness – Provides Students and their immediate family members living in the same household with discounts on admissions to City of Edmonton recreation centres.
    • Multi Admission Pass – 15% discount on our already discounted multi admission pass (5+ visits)
    • Continuous Monthly Membership – 20% discount off an ongoing monthly membership using our convenient Pre-Authorized Debit Program
    • Annual Membership – 20% discount on Annual Memberships
    • Present your MacEwan ID card at any of the City of Edmonton’s recreation facilities to purchase your discounted pass.
  • Inukshuk Bushido Kai – All current post-secondary students automatically qualify for $25 off your monthly fees or $15 off on Punch Passes
  • Rise Republic Fitness Studio – 15% off – all month to month memberships (4 class/8 class/unlimited), 10% off all class passes (5 pack or 10 class pass). Discount Code – MACEWAN, must have Valid Student ID

  • Art Gallery of Alberta – Art Gallery of Alberta offers free admission for Alberta students with a valid Student ID

  • Coursera is offering free online courses. Learn about topics such as de-mystifying mindfulness, psychological first aid, game development, and more.
  • Headspace – offers a discounted annual plan for r students within the United States, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Portugal, and Spain attending a post-secondary program or university, aged 18+. 85% off subscription so the annual cost is $12.99 CAD and monthly its $1.08 CAD.
  • Intuit TurboTax and GenuTax offer a free version for filing basic tax returns.
  • Microsoft Office 365 is free for students.

Transportation
  • Air Canada – The Student Flight Pass offers discounted flight packages for students.
  • ETS – ETS offers a Youth & Student Monthly Fare Cap of $66 if you register your Arc Account as a Student & Youth. Proof of age or current student status must be presented to transit staff upon request.
  • Via Rail  – Various passes & offers for students.
