SAMU GRANTS
AND BURSARIES
SAMU CARES Program
The SAMU Cares Program is a bursary that assists more than 80 families each year. The program is funded by an endowment managed by The Grant MacEwan University Foundation.
These bursaries provide financial assistance to students and their families throughout the academic year. Funding is available each term, and bursary amounts may vary depending on the number of applications received and the funds available. Our goal is to support as many eligible students as possible.
STUDENT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT
Each year, SAMU offers 36 grants of up to $500 to support students attending academic conferences.

EMERGENCY LOANS
Student life is costly; between tuition, books, food and rent, students can find themselves with little money left. So when unexpected costs arise, they can be left struggling to find the appropriate funds to help. SAMU Emergency Loans is dedicated to support students who find themselves in such a position, and funds deemed necessary for survival are out of reach.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for an emergency loan, the applicants must be enrolled as a full- or part-time student at MacEwan, show the need for the loan and must be able to demonstrate the ability to pay the loan at a later date. Emergency loans are intended for items necessary to survival, such as shelter, utilities and medical expenses.
