STUDENT LOAN PROCESSING ERROR

STUDENT LOAN PROCESSING ERROR: WHAT TO KNOW

If you are receiving student aid for the Winter 2026 academic term, you may be impacted by a processing error caused by technical difficulties with confirming full time loans for MacEwan University students.

WHAT IS THE ERROR?
Student aid intended to pay for academic tuition is supposed to be sent directly to the university, with remaining amounts that are intended to pay for books and living expenses sent to students’ bank accounts. Due to technical difficulties, some students relying on student aid during the Winter 2026 academic term may have received their entire loan, including tuition and additional amounts, directly in their bank accounts.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THIS IMPACTS ME?
You can confirm if you have been impacted by checking if your tuition and fees have been paid in MyStudentSystem, or if you have received substantially more in student aid in your bank account than you expected for this term.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO IF I AM IMPACTED?
Students impacted by this error must manually pay their tuition and fees through MyStudentSystem. For more information on paying your tuition and fees, visit the Payments page on the MacEwan website: macewan.ca/apply-enrol/fees-finances/tuition-fees-payment/payments/
